Graduation Clearance Forms Due…Friday, April 26th
Signatures required from Deans, Alumni Affairs, Business Office, Financial Aid, and
Career Development Center. The following must also be completed:
• Graduation fee of $300.00 paid in full
• No incomplete grades
• Completed Financial Aid Exit Survey
• Completed Senior Exit Survey
• Ordered Cap & Gown
Graduates’ Rehearsal………….Wednesday, May 8th
Graduates’ Rehearsal will take place at the FMU Wellness Center Arena promptly at
6:00 pm. Attendance is Mandatory. Commencement tickets will be distributed during
rehearsal as well as other pertinent information. Each Graduate will receive a total of
eight (8) tickets. Six (6) are allocated for the FMU Wellness Center Arena and two (2)
for the over flow location… Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts. As you
prepare to distribute tickets to family and friends, be advised that children ages three
(3) and up will need a ticket for admittance.
Baccalaureate Service………………Thursday, May 9th
The Baccalaureate Service will take place in the Susie C. Holley Religious Center
(Chapel) on the beautiful campus of Florida Memorial University at 11:00 am.
Featured speaker Dr. Robert Lemon will deliver an inspirational message to
Graduates. Caps and gowns are the attire for all Graduates. At 10:00 am sharp prior
to the Baccalaureate Service, a group photo will be taken on the steps of the Student
Baccalaureate Processional………Thursday, May 9th
At 10:30 am Graduates are to proceed to Coleman Drive to line up for the Processional
to the Susie C. Holley Religious Center.
At 10:30 am Faculty Members are to line up on the Breezeway of the Nathan W. Collier
Library, in preparation for the Procession to the Susie C. Holley Religious Center.
Graduates are to remain in formation on Coleman Drive, as both the Administration
and Faculty pass through beginning at 10:45 am. Graduates will be instructed by staff
to fall in directly behind the last Faculty member.
Baccalaureate Recessional from the Susie C. Holley Religious Center
At 12:00 pm campus bells toll indicating the close of the Baccalaureate Service. All
Graduates and Faculty should proceed to the Smith Conference Center for the
Graduates’ Luncheon……….………Thursday, May 9th
The Graduates’ Luncheon will take place at Florida Memorial University in the
Smith Conference Center at 12:30 pm. Each Graduate is allowed two (2) guests.
Faculty members are encouraged to attend!
Commencement………………..……Saturday, May 11th
The Commencement Ceremony will be held in the FMU Wellness Center Arena, Saturday May 11, 2019, beginning promptly at 9:00 am on the campus of Florida Memorial University. Doors will open at 8:00 am.
Retired Colonel Norma Ely-Jones will serve as keynote speaker.
Commencement Line-Up…………Saturday, May 11th
At 7:45 am GRADUATES must report to the Smith Conference Center. Proper attire
should be worn under your regalia. Ladies should wear white dresses or white suits and closed toe black flats or black heels. Gentlemen should wear black pants, white shirts and black shoes.
At 8:00 am FACULTY must report to the lobby of the Nathan W. Collier Library. The
Administration team will lead the Procession to the FMU Wellness Center Arena
beginning at 8:45 am. They will be followed by Faculty and Graduates in that order.
Prior to the Procession, Graduates will be lined up in formation in front of the Lou
Rawls Center for the Performing Arts promptly at 8:30 am, as the Administration and
Faculty pass through in route to the arena. After the last Faculty member, Graduates
will immediately join the procession.
Commencement Recessional……Saturday, May 11th
Prior to the Declaration of Closing, an announcement will be made to the audience to
please remain seated until members of the Dais, Faculty and Students have exited the
arena, in preparation for the Celebratory Walk which takes place directly in front of
the Arena. The Recessional begins with the Administration who are seated on the
dais, followed by Faculty who will line up outside in front of the Arena, and finally
Graduates who take a last celebratory walk through Faculty, as a means of Farewell
Wishes and Good Luck!
Photography Locations for Graduates & Families
Three (3) banners will be conveniently located around the campus for Graduates and
Families to take photographs and create memories with loved ones. Locations: Two
(2) outside of the Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts, and one (1) in front of
the Sarah A. Blocker Hall Building. Staff will be on hand to direct families to the
